Speculative Archives

Operating at the intersection of urban detritus and forensic fiction, Speculative Archives constructs a parallel material history of the contemporary city.

Edith acts as an anomalous field surveyor—gleaning everyday municipal glitches from the curbsides of Sham Shui Po: abandoned industrial gloves, discarded electrical sockets, tilted streetlamps, and unaddressed infrastructural ruptures. Rather than preserving them as passive trash, these fragments are embedded in Portland cement poured into vacuum-formed consumer blister packaging, creating fossilized 3D artifacts. Paired with 2D photographic collages that reconstruct spatial fissures, each entry functions as a speculative specimen: deciphered not by its past utility, but through an imagined archaeology of an unfamiliar civilization.
