黃嘉怡（Edith Wong）現居香港，創作涵蓋攝影與雕塑，同時研究將傳統工藝（紮作）與當代創作結合。她的創作靈感日常都市生活，尤其關注城市中的物質痕跡、被忽視的物件，以及其獨特的視覺語言。
Edith Wong is a Hong Kong artist whose practice spans photography and sculpture, with a focus on integrating traditional craft practices, such as bamboo scaffolding and paper crafting, with contemporary art-making. Her work draws inspiration from everyday urban life, paying particular attention to the material traces of the city, overlooked objects, and its distinctive visual language.
Statement
Edith的創作實踐圍繞街道攝影，以及透過倒模與拼貼所展開的雕塑組合。她結合石膏、水泥與現成物，將日常都市生活中被忽略的痕跡、材料與空間經驗，轉化為可被觀看、觸摸與記憶的作品。對 Edith 而言，藝術創作並非將藝術與生活割裂，而是回到生活現場，重新審視那些看似平凡卻承載時間、情感與城市肌理的細節。
城市是她創作中重要的觀察場域。商店招牌、建築表面、棄置物、手寫痕跡，以及細微的人為改造，共同構成一種既屬集體、又深具個人記憶的都市語言。她透過攝影收集這些稍縱即逝的片段，並將其形式、質感與氛圍延伸至三維作品之中。石膏與水泥的倒模過程，成為保存與印刻城市表面的一種方式；而拼貼與現成物的介入，則保留了街頭生活中所蘊含的偶然性、使用痕跡與生活感。
Edith’s practice on street photography and sculptural assemblage developed through casting and collage. By combining plaster, cement, and found objects, she transforms overlooked traces, materials, and spatial experiences from everyday urban life into works that can be seen, touched, and remembered. For Edith, artistic creation is not about separating art from life, but about returning to lived experience and re-examining the seemingly ordinary details that carry time, emotion, and the texture of the city.The streets of Hong Kong serve as an important site of observation in her practice. Shop signs, building surfaces, discarded objects, handwritten marks, and subtle human interventions together form a dense urban language that is at once collective and deeply personal. Through photography, she gathers these fleeting fragments and extends their forms, textures, and atmospheres into three-dimensional works. The casting process with plaster and cement becomes a means of preserving and imprinting the surfaces of the city, while collage and found objects retain the sense of chance, traces of use, and everyday intimacy embedded in street life.
